Adventures with Uncle Neal

On the way to his favorite island retreat in Saipan, Jeremy's Uncle Neal stayed with us for over a week. He enjoyed tours of all our favorite sights, including a few new ones.

He even got lucky and enjoyed some beautiful sunny days in what has otherwise been a fairly rotten summer for weather. My favorite moment was coming home from some errands to find him standing outside shirtless, hanging boxers on the line, with a clothes pin hanging from his mouth. I can't remember whether he actually had a beer in the other hand or not, but it was definitely close by.

Here are just a few photo highlights of our adventures. (Photos used without permission from Neal Beck.)

We accidentally stumbled on a major pipe band competition in the town square. We got some lattes at an outdoor cafe, just in time to watch the c
ompeting bands join together for a grand finale march down the main street. Of course we pretended this was all just part of a typical weekend in town.

Closing March

A very common occurrence outside of town is livestock crossing the road.

But they don't usually get this close. For a few moments, our car was engulfed by cow.

At the end of a hard day of touring, Neal really enjoyed his Speight's.

As a special bonus, Neal was quite handy around the house. Over the course of the week, he vacuumed, cooked an amazing spaghetti sauce, gave me gardening advice, trimmed the plants, and pruned our hedges!

Thanks for visiting, Neal. We enjoyed it.
