The Heaphy Track runs along the west coast of the south island, where the Southern Alps mountain range runs very close to the coastline. We spent two days hiking here.

We stayed the night in this hut, overlooking the mouth of the Heaphy River. I enjoyed cooking dinner on the woodstove and sitting by the fire in candlelight; however, Jeremy was scared of the mice.
